PLACES AND REQUIREMENTS NATIONAL POLICE

This year 2018 there are 100 positions on the executive scale, last year there were 130 positions and in 2016 there were 125 positions. The trend in recent years has been upward despite this decline this year. We don’t know what happens from here on out, but we do know that the Interior has proposed to recover the 12,000 vacancies that have been left unfilled over the years and that has been the subject of claims by many police unions such as the SUP.

Regarding the basic scale, this year there were 2,900 places, slightly less than in 2017 where 3,201 places were offered and in 2016 there were 2,615 places, again the trend despite this slight drop this year has been upwards and far There are still calls in times of crisis where places were hardly offered and fluctuated around 100. In the same way we are still far from the 100% replacement rate in which up to 5500 places were offered before the crisis.

We are in a good trend in terms of the number of positions that will be offered in 2019 and they are going to be good years to join the National Police Corps since the increase in the number of positions leads to an increase in the probability of admission.

Regarding the entry requirements in the basic scale, the novelty that was introduced last year was the requirement of having a baccalaureate or equivalent, these are the requirements that the Official State Gazette imposes to aspire to enter the body:

To be admitted to the practice of selective tests, it will be necessary to meet, at the end of the application submission period, the following requirements:
a) Have Spanish nationality.

b) Be 18 years of age and not exceed the maximum retirement age.

c) Not having been sentenced for an intentional crime, nor separated from the service of the State, the Autonomous, Local or Institutional Administration, nor being disqualified from the exercise
of public functions.

d) Not be included in any of the causes of physical or mental exclusion that
prevent or impair the functional or operational capacity necessary for the performance
of the tasks of the National Police that are established in Annex III of this
announcement.

e) Commitment to carry weapons and, where appropriate, to use them, which will be provided through the applicant’s statement.

f) Have a minimum height of 1.65 meters for men and 1.60 for women.

g) Be in possession of a class B driving license.

h) Be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

The selection process that the applicants will have to overcome will be appropriate to the required academic title.
In the same way, in the executive scale, a university degree or equivalent is requested (formerly Bachelor’s degrees):
a) Have Spanish nationality.

b) Be 18 years of age and not exceed the maximum retirement age.

c) Not having been convicted of an intentional crime, nor separated from the service of the State, the Autonomous, Local or Institutional Administration, nor being disqualified from the exercise of public functions.

d) Not be included in any of the causes of physical or mental exclusion that prevent or impair the functional or operational capacity necessary for the performance of the tasks of the National Police that are established in Annex III of this call.

e) Commitment to carry weapons and, where appropriate, to use them, which will be provided through the applicant’s statement.

f) Have a minimum height of 1.65 meters for men and 1.60 for women.

g) Be in possession of a class B driving license.

h) Be in possession of the official university degree.

The official university degrees obtained in accordance with study plans prior to the entry into force of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29, which establishes the organization of official university education, will maintain all their academic effects for the purposes of the admission and promotion in the National Police.

Checking requirements during the process
If at any time during the procedure it becomes known that any of the applicants does not have any of the requirements demanded by this call, the Court, from the publication of the final list of admitted until the conclusion of the opposition phase, or the Training and Improvement Division, during the rest of the selection process, after hearing the interested party, they will agree to their exclusion, notifying this Directing Center, if applicable, of any inaccuracies or falsehoods that they may have committed.

Note that the A2 motorcycle license and the BTP are no longer needed.
In both calls, you have to pass an English or French test-type exam of 40 questions and 4 response options in a time of 20 minutes on a basic scale that is VOLUNTARY and can raise the grade up to one point. On the executive scale, the exam is mandatory and if it is not approved we can no longer follow the selection process, the exam is both written and oral and is worth the same as the theoretical questionnaire and the case study.
